Buttermilk

I've have always added white vinegar or lemon juice to regular milk as a buttermilk substitution. I read in Taste of Home that you can also use 1 cup of plain yogurt (seems to me like it might change the consistency though) or 1 3/4 teaspoons cream of tarter plus 1 cup of milk, to substitute 1 cup of buttermilk. I hadn't heard of these options before and I thought I'd pass them along in case this is helpful.
