Oreo Truffles

(Self taught in the art of proper Oreo consumption)

This is a recipe that I love to make and seriously is enjoyed by all! Its a perfect little treat to take to people as well. The best part...

IT SO EASY!!! Delicious and Easy? Can it get any better??? I submit that it cannot! :)

OREO TRUFFLES
(Originally found over @ Kraft Food & Family)

1 Package Oreo Cookies, crushed finely (use the cookie and the cream)
1 8 oz. Package Cream Cheese, softened
White Chocolate Bark

1. Finely crush 4 cookies and reserve for later. (original recipe calls for 7. You don't need 7!)

2. Crush remaining cookies and mix in Cream Cheese. (I use the back of a large spoon for this step...Alison just uses her Kitchenaid.)

3. Roll the mixture into 1" inch balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.

4. Melt chocolate according to package directions & then dip Oreo balls in chocolate. Tap off excess chocolate and place back on Cookie sheet. Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle crushed crumbs on top of truffle (not a necessary step, but I think they look better with the crumbs on top).

5. Once they have dried, refrigerate and ENJOY!! (And trust me, you will enjoy!)

I think I will go eat some of my holiday Oreo's now...

* I like to place the whole cookie sheet in the freezer for about an hour, or in the fridge for a few hours before I try and dip them in the hot chocolate. It makes them a lot easier to work with!

  1. These truly are divine!!! I've made them a couple of times now and everyone we have shared them with has just loved them!! Gardiner took some to the bishop for home teaching and the next Sunday the bishop pulled me out of the nursery to talk to me. I thought I was going to get a new calling. Nope, he just wanted to tell me how much he LOVED them!!! :)

  2. Kitchenaid would be a lot easier. But then what would I do with my buff cooking arm? :)

  5. I made these a fews days ago. I tried using my hand kitchenaid mixer...which didn't go so well. Richard was laughing at me cuz I couldn't keep them in the bowl! They just flew everywhere!

I ended up deciding a pastry blender was the best. (I cut them into 1/4 pieces first). I also grated some of the white chocolate on top instead of oreo crumbles and it looked cool too.

p.s. i agree with Andrea, my dipping wasn't so great, would maybe using a toothpick to hold them, be more successful?

  6. You all need to learn how to make caramels from Andrea. She taught me and I can DO it. They are wonderful and everyone seems to love them! Love, Mom

  7. We do need that caramel recipe! When I dip the truffles I use a spoon and then tap them on the side of the bowl to get the excess off. I've never had a problem but I understand that lots of people do. I also thought the kitchenaid wasn't as easy actually. I LOVE my mixer, but these seem to be easier for me to work with when I mix them by hand. ?

I have also used a few different kinds of melting chocolate and they really do vary. TI have heard that the white chocolate chips are really hard to work with as well. The one I prefer the most is called "Chef's Naturals" by the brand Fisher (in a blue and red package). I buy it @ Jewel-Osco in Illi, which is Albertson's out West. Hope this helps a little bit...

  8. Reporting back...tried these for a second time dipping went much better - less fingers and more fork! - and colored sprinkles on top were so cute! I gave them to the YW and leaders so now requests for the recipe are coming fast and furious! Its nice to be in high demand!
